Unbreakable

2016

Unbreakable is a short documentary portrait focusing on a charismatic young lady Jodie Owen, who was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta. Moving, thought provoking and engaging, Unbreakable is a story that will stay with you well after the credits have ceased.

Winner of Best Documentary 2016 at the Lancaster International Short Film Festival.

Directed and Produced by Rebecca Kirwan

This was the first documentary film I made and it was one of the most rewarding and amazing journeys I have had the chance to be involved in. Jodie, the subject of my documentary was a truly remarkable character, her charisma and charm touched me and everyone around her. To cross paths and make her the subject of my first documentary was something I will always be grateful for. I was also mentored by Jessica Douglas Henry, a truly talented Australian director and producer towards the end of making this film. She shared her time with me generously and graciously, I will never forget what I learned from her.

The film took a number of years to make as I captured different milestones in Jodie’s life.

Documentary films have the power to educate, bring awareness, influence, change perceptions, inspire, bring people together, connect diverse audiences and so much more.
